League One roundup: Sheffield United close gap to two points at top of table

Sports Mole rounds up this afternoon's League One action.

Sheffield United closed the gap to League One leaders Tranmere to just two points with a 4-1 victory over Stevenage this afternoon.

The Blades capitalised on the Merseyside club's Friday night loss to MK Dons with two goals from Shaun Miller.

Hartlepool are already nine points from safety after they crashed to a 5-0 home defeat to Coventry, while Shrewsbury moved out of the relegation zone with a 1-0 win over Crewe.

Swindon returned to the playoff places as they beat West Country rivals Yeovil 4-1 and Bournemouth secured the same result to push Oldham towards the bottom of the table thanks to a Lewis Grabban hat-trick.

Irish striker David Mooney bagged a brace to help Leyton Orient continue the momentum gained from their FA Cup midweek victory in a 4-1 win at Carlisle.

Brentford's Antonio German scored a late equaliser to deny Preston a home win.
