Benito Carbone interested in becoming new Sheffield Wednesday manager

Former Sheffield Wednesday player Benito Carbone says that he is interested in returning to the club as manager.

Benito Carbone has confirmed that he is interested in taking over at his former club Sheffield Wednesday.

The club sacked Dave Jones on Sunday after just one win this season.

Carbone, who is currently manager of Italian side St Christophe, says that he is ready for a new challenge and would relish the chance to return to Hillsborough, where he spent three years as player.

"I am ready for my next challenge in England, but it is just a case of who wants me? Who will trust me? If Wednesday came to me and offered me the job, I would be the happiest man in the world, and I would work with the players to get the best out of them," he is quoted as saying by the Yorkshire Post.

"I spent three years of my life at Wednesday, and I loved it. I want to come back to England, because this is the place to be. It is where I want to make my name as a manager."

Carbone also had spells at Aston Villa, Bradford City, Derby County and Middlesbrough after leaving the Owls.
