Mauricio Pochettino: 'Southampton lucky to beat Swansea City'

Mauricio Pochettino admits that Southampton were "lucky" to beat Swansea City 1-0 on Saturday.

Southampton manager Mauricio Pochettino has admitted that his team were "lucky" to beat Swansea City 1-0 on Saturday.

The game looked to be heading for a draw at the Liberty Stadium before Rickie Lambert scored deep in stoppage time to snatch the points for the Saints.

Despite claiming that his players were fortunate to come away from South Wales with the spoils, Pochettino believes that their overall performance was "fantastic".

"We were lucky because we left it quite late," the Argentine told BBC Sport. "I just want to congratulate the players because they did fantastic.

"It's been an amazing season. We still have three more points to go for to even surpass the record we've achieved so far.

"It's been a long, hard season but I just want to congratulate the players, all the medical staff and also the fans because they've been amazing throughout the season."

Southampton end their Premier League campaign next Sunday when they face Manchester United at St Mary's Stadium.
