Mauricio Pochettino has insisted that he will not walk away from his post as Southampton manager following the departure of chairman Nicola Cortese.
There were suggestions that the Argentine coach would leave the club after Cortese resigned from his post yesterday amid a boardroom struggle.
Despite Pochettino previously stating that he would not remain at St Mary's if Cortese decided to leave, following talks this morning, the 41-year-old has stated that he has a "responsibility" to the club.
Pochettino said in a press conference: "I am staying as Southampton manager. I have a professional responsibility to everyone at the club and the fans. I want to show my complete gratitude to Nicola Cortese. He believed in me and brought me to Southampton.
"Eight months ago, I was at the end of my first season. The situation now is completely different. I am fully committed to these players, to the staff and to these supporters. It would make no sense to leave this path."
Club owner Katharina Liebherr has been named the temporary chairwoman.
