Preview: Southampton vs. Norwich City

Sports Mole previews the Premier League game between Southampton and Norwich City at St Mary's Stadium, with the Canaries desperate for their strikers to start firing.

Norwich City travel to Southampton on Saturday having gone 11 Premier League games without a goal from one of their recognised forwards.

Gary Hooper's effort against Fulham on Boxing Day was the last time that either he, Ricky van Wolfswinkel or Johan Elmander found the net in the top flight.

Between them, the Canaries' £14m worth of summer striking additions have so far contributed five Premier League goals to the division's joint-second least prolific attack.

It is this lack of firepower which leaves them only four points clear of the relegation zone ahead of their trip to St Mary's Stadium, where Southampton have not won in their last three outings.

In Jay Rodriguez, though, they have a man who has scored twice as many goals as all of Norwich's strikers put together, and he bagged the winner against Crystal Palace last weekend.

Mauricio Pochettino could be forced into one change, with Jack Cork having limped off at Selhurst Park. Victor Wanyama, James Ward-Prowse and Gaston Ramirez are the options to replace him.

Nathaniel Clyne appears to have regained his place from Calum Chambers at right-back, while Jos Hooiveld and goalkeeper Kelvin Davis remain unavailable with eye and leg injuries respectively.

The hosts may have to make alterations in midfield, where Alexander Tettey has joined Leroy Fer in the treatment room and Newcastle United loanee Jonas Gutierrez is still nursing a calf problem.

Jonny Howson could be recalled for his first start since December 15, with Wes Hoolahan playing behind lone striker Van Wolfswinkel, who is without a goal since the opening day of the season.
