Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane hopes to "break into the world-class bracket" by leaving his mark in the Champions League this season.

Harry Kane has admitted that he has to impress in the Champions League with Tottenham Hotspur if he is to achieve his target of being considered a world-class striker.

The England international has finished top goalscorer in the Premier League for two seasons running and recently passed the 100-goal mark for the Lilywhites.

Kane, who has netted more than 20 goals in his last three top-flight campaigns to date, is now looking to leave his mark in the biggest club competition in world football, beginning with Wednesday's group-stage tie against Borussia Dortmund.

"I have said before I want to break into the world-class bracket. To do that you have to play well in the Champions League," he told reporters.

"The Champions League is a big stage, all the best players in Europe, if not the world, are here. And to be the best you have to produce your best against the best. I have six group games to prove that by hopefully scoring as many goals as possible and performing well."

Kane got off the mark with his first Premier League goals of the season last time out, finding the net twice in the 3-0 win over Everton.
