Former Tottenham Hotspur assistant boss Joe Jordan slams the club's decision to axe Harry Redknapp.

Former Tottenham Hotspur assistant boss Joe Jordan has slammed the club's decision to axe Harry Redknapp.

Redknapp, Jordan and fellow assistant Kevin Bond were given their matching orders after Spurs failed to qualify for the Champions League last season, and Jordan has criticised his former club.

"Not for the life of me did I think I would go off on my holiday and return to find my contract had been terminated. You look to improve and we would have," the 65-year-old told reporters.

"I didn't see it coming. When I left White Hart Lane on the final day of the season I was looking forward not only to the next season - but also the Champions League."

Spurs finished fourth last season, but Chelsea's Champions League triumph gave the Blues the final European spot for next season.
