Tottenham lead Bolton 1-0 at half time thanks to Luka Modric's goal at the Reebok Stadium.

Luka Modric's superb goal has seen Tottenham Hotspur lead 1-0 at half time in their match against Bolton Wanderers at the Reebok Stadium.

After a string start, Spurs' first meaningful opening came midway through the half when Adam Bogdan did well to block Rafael van der Vaart's rebound after the goalkeeper had fumbled Gareth Bale's drive.

Bale was in the thick of it again soon after, but the Welshman's pullback missed a queue of waiting teammates.

David Ngog nearly found a way through for Bolton as they struggled in attack. However, the striker's goal-bound effort was blocked by a solid Tottenham defence.

The visitors were rewarded for their pressure in the 36th minute when Modric's half-volley flew into the top corner past Bogdan.

Dedryck Boyata had a final chance for the home side, but he somehow blazed over from close range following a free kick.
