Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane says that he is "delighted" to have made a goalscoring return to action against Arsenal following seven weeks on the sidelines.

Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane has said that he is "delighted" to have made a goalscoring return to action against Arsenal in Sunday's North London derby.

Kane had spent seven weeks on the sidelines after damaging his ankle ligaments, but earned his side a point from the penalty spot on his return at the Emirates Stadium yesterday.

Despite still being unbeaten in the Premier League, Spurs are now winless in seven games and have failed to score from open play in their last six, and Kane admitted that it was tough to watch his side struggle during his absence.

"It has been difficult, especially with the team going through a bit of a spell where we haven't been winning games. It's hard. It's like watching my family - I just want to be out there helping them. But it's part of it. I was there training with the team, I was around them," he told reporters.

"It has been a difficult spell for us but we came out against Arsenal and played very well, we could have even nicked it. I felt fine. I have been working hard to be ready and I wouldn't have been out there if I wasn't feeling good enough. I'm happy with it. I still need to get some match fitness, but I was delighted to be out there and to score.

"I'm in the team to score goals. I try and score as many as I can in the season to help the team out. Whenever I'm on the pitch I feel confident. I had a header in the first half which went just wide, an effort at the back post which I didn't get the best contact on and I obviously scored a penalty. It was great to be back in those situations and to be back among the goals."

Kane has been included in Gareth Southgate's squad for the upcoming England games against Scotland and Spain.
