Former Tottenham Hotspur manager David Pleat has said that new Spurs head coach Tim Sherwood will provide the club with some stability.
Sherwood has been handed a full-time contract at White Hart Lane, which runs until the end of the 2014-15 season.
"Opportunities come in different ways, but initially he gives Tottenham some stability and he has some credentials, he is ambitious and a leader," said Pleat, according to BBC Sport.
"He is hard-working, he has developed, and helped, along with Les Ferdinand and Chris Ramsey, develop some good players that have emerged this season.
"Every manager is a risk, there are no messiahs out there. I think Tim will do OK. He will get respect, he understands the game and importantly can communicate."
Tottenham currently sit in seventh position in the Premier League on 30 points.
