Mauricio Pochettino: 'We won't give up on fourth spot'

Tottenham Hotspur head coach Mauricio Pochettino reveals that his side haven't given up on fourth place despite falling seven points behind Manchester City.

Tottenham Hotspur head coach Mauricio Pochettino has revealed that the club still have ambitions to achieve a Champions League place before the end of the season.

Just one win in three games has seen Spurs fall seven points behind fourth spot in the table, but ahead of Saturday's fixture with Aston Villa, Pochettino has insisted that they won't settle for a place in the Europa League.

The 43-year-old is quoted by BBC Sport as saying: "We are ambitious. The gap is seven points. It's not easy, but we need to still fight and we need to try to get the most points possible to arrive or be close.

"We have seven games, 21 points to play for. It's important for supporters, at White Hart Lane, and it's important to increase our performance after the Burnley game.

"We need to show we want to fight to go higher on the table and it's a great opportunity."

Spurs last featured in the Champions League during the 2010-11 season when they reached the last eight before bowing out to Real Madrid.
