Tim Sherwood refuses to comment on future

Tim Sherwood refuses to comment on speculation regarding his future as Tottenham manager after guiding Spurs to a 5-1 win over Sunderland at White Hart Lane.

Tim Sherwood has refused to comment on his future as Tottenham Hotspur manager after guiding them to a 5-1 thrashing of Sunderland at White Hart Lane.

The 45-year-old signed an 18-month contract to succeed Andre Villas-Boas in December, but reports on Monday suggested that he will be sacked in the summer.

Sherwood has insisted that he cannot react to the speculation and is focusing on finishing the season strongly with Spurs to give them the best chance possible of qualifying for the Champions League.

He told Sky Sports News: "My future? I can't comment on anything on my employment, you will have to ask my employer about that. As far as I'm concerned, I set the team out well tonight, we outplayed Sunderland. We knew it would be a tough game, because they have got their threats, and we've done the job well tonight. On to the next.

"We've got five games left and we think we can win all five games. We don't know where that might take us. All I was focused on was winning the game tonight, preparing the boys correctly. You've just got to be professional.

"It's been an opportunity to manage this great club and I'm relishing it. My record has been very good. In the Premier League, any manager who has been here, I think my win percentage is higher than any of them."

Spurs are now five points adrift of North London rivals Arsenal, who currently occupy fourth place.
