Tottenham Hotspur have reached an agreement with the Korea Football Association to let Son Heung-min represent his nation at the Asian Games this month in exchange for him missing the first two matches of the Asian Cup in January.
The KFA confirmed that Son will fly to Indonesia for the Games after Tottenham's Premier League opener against Newcastle United on August 11.
Spurs were initially reluctant to allow Son to leave before August 18, when they have a Premier League match against Fulham.
Mauricio Pochettino's side later agreed to a compromise, allowing Son to leave this month but ruling him out of South Korea's Asian Cup games on January 7 and 11 against the Philippines and Kyrgyzstan, as well as an international friendly in November.
The Games run from August 14 to September 2, and a gold medal at the tournament could grant Son an exemption from compulsory military service in his home country.
