Rafael Van der Vaart thinks that there is "no reason" why Tottenham can't force their way to the top of the Premier League table.

Rafael van der Vaart is confident that Tottenham Hotspur remain title contenders despite dropping points at the weekend.

Harry Redknapp's side suffered a minor blow in their race for the title following a 1-1 draw with Swansea City on Saturday.

Van der Vaart, who took the lead for Spurs at the weekend, believes that Harry Redknapp's side are capable of pushing their way to the top of the table despite the setback.

"There is no reason why we can't catch the top two," said the Dutchman. "There is still a long way to go. I think the fact that we are really disappointed with only a point away from home is also a very good sign for the club.

"Maybe a few years ago Tottenham Hotspur would have been happy to have gone home with a draw. Now we know we can do more, we know that we can do better than this."

Tottenham continue their campaign with a visit from West Bromwich Albion at White Hart Lane tomorrow.
