Tottenham Hotspur defender Jan Vertonghen is hoping that the ankle injury he suffered against Sunderland on Wednesday is not serious.
Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas confirmed that the Belgian, who was replaced in the first half of the club's 3-1 defeat, "twisted his ankle" in the pre-season clash.
However, both parties remain hopeful that the centre-back's injury will not keep him out of the start of the Premier League season.
"Let's hope the injury isn't too bad. Scan tomorrow morning. Thanks for your messages," he tweeted.
Spurs are next in action against South China on Saturday.
