Andre Villas-Boas heads Premier League sack race

Tottenham boss Andre Villas-Boas is the new favourite to be the next Premier League manager to leave his post, following their 6-0 thrashing by Man City.

Tottenham Hotspur boss Andre Villas-Boas has become the new favourite to be the next Premier League manager to leave his post.

The Portuguese coach's odds were slashed from 40-1 to 8-1 following Spurs' 6-0 hammering by Manchester City on Sunday, and have since come in further still.

Following a flurry of bets, SkyBet now have Villas-Boas at 10-11 to be sacked before any of his top-flight contemporaries, replacing Fulham chief Martin Jol, who has drifted out to 2-1 with the same company.

Reports have claimed that the 36-year-old is fighting for his White Hart Lane job after an uninspiring start to the season in which they have only scored nine goals in 12 games.

The Lillywhites were seen as pre-season title contenders following a summer investment of £108m into their playing squad, but are currently ninth in the table, eight points adrift of leaders and rivals Arsenal.
