Tottenham Hotspur agree to attend anti-racism talks following complaints about chants sung by the club's supporters.

Tottenham Hotspur is to hold anti-racism talks with 'Kick It Out' and the police following complaints about alleged anti-Semitic chants from its supporters.

The Society of Black Lawyers (SBL) has hit out at the Premier League outfit over issue, and plans to escalate the complaint if the chants do not cease by November 20.

Spurs have defended the actions of their supporters, arguing that the songs are a "defence mechanism in order to own the term and thereby deflect anti-Semitic abuse".

However, the clubs has agreed to send representatives to the meeting to discuss both sides of the argument.

"A key component for this debate is for us to understand the views of the fans in relation to discrimination in sport," read a statement from the club.

"We are therefore delighted to support Kick It Out as they ask supporters to have their say in the biggest-ever fans' consultation on tackling discrimination in football.

"At a time when discrimination is high on the football agenda, it is easy for fans and players to forget the great strides made over the last 20 years. But, there is still a long way to go."

Meanwhile, Spurs take on Arsenal this Saturday in the North London derby.
