Jose Mourinho 'set for big payout if sacked by Tottenham Hotspur'

Jose Mourinho's contract at Tottenham Hotspur reportedly does not include a break clause, so he would be in line for a big payout if sacked by the club.

Tottenham Hotspur manager Jose Mourinho would reportedly be in line for a mammoth payout if the club relieve him of his duties.

Having witnessed his team lose five of their last six matches in all competitions, including a humbling 3-0 loss at Manchester City at the weekend, Mourinho's future is being called into question.

The 58-year-old is not thought to be in any immediate danger of losing his job, but the bookmakers have him down as the second favourite to be the next Premier League manager sacked, only behind Liverpool's Jurgen Klopp.

According to The Athletic, Mourinho's current deal - which runs until 2023 - does not include a break clause, so the former Chelsea and Manchester United manager would pocket a substantial amount if he is given the boot.

The same outlet also reported that RB Leipzig's Julian Nagelsmann could be a candidate to replace Mourinho in North London, but Daniel Levy will give the Spurs manager time to get his side back on track in the final few months of the season.

Spurs have slipped down to ninth in the Premier League table - four points adrift of the Champions League places - after losing four of their last five in the top flight.
