Everton have become ready to sell midfielder Dele Alli this summer, just six months after bringing him to the club from Tottenham Hotspur, according to a report.

With his career stalling at Spurs in recent years, the 26-year-old was brought to Goodison Park by Frank Lampard in the January transfer window, as the Toffees looked to steer clear of relegation.

The Merseyside club did manage to narrowly survive the drop, but Alli played little part in the club's efforts after being restricted to just 11 appearances.

Following his lack of impact at Everton, Lampard is willing to move the England international on this summer before his cost to the club increases, according to The Sun.

Having joined Everton on an initial free transfer, the total cost of the deal could rise to as high as £40m depending on appearances and performance-related add-ons.

One of the clauses is a £10m payment to Spurs once Alli makes 20 appearances for Everton, but having made just 11 so far, there has been no cost to Lampard's side other than wages to date.

Everton have endured a miserable summer at the time of writing, during which last season's star performer Richarlison has been sold to Spurs for around £60m, whilst the only arrival at Goodison Park has been James Tarkowski, who has joined on a free transfer from Burnley.

In addition, Lampard has overseen his side lose 2-0 to Arsenal and 4-0 to MLS side Minnesota United in their opening two friendlies to date, with Alli even missing an open goal during the humiliating latter.
