Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly moved a step closer to signing Toby Alderweireld from Atletico Madrid this summer.
The North Londoners have been heavily linked with a move for the Belgian defender in recent weeks, and reports now suggest that Mauricio Pochettino's side have agreed a fee with Atletico and personal terms with the player.
The Guardian reports that everything is in place for an £11.4m switch as soon as an ongoing legal dispute involving Southampton and Atletico is resolved.
The Saints, who took Alderweireld on a season-long loan last term, claim that they had an option to sign the player for £6.8m unless Atletico paid them £1.5m - a payment that the English club say has not been made.
Should that issue be settled, however, the 26-year-old would be free to move to White Hart Lane having already reportedly completed his medical.
Alderweireld would become Tottenham's third defensive signing of the summer after Kevin Wimmer and Kieran Trippier joined the club from FC Koln and Burnley respectively.
