Papiss Cisse has been left on the Newcastle United bench for the Premier League clash with Stoke City on Monday night.
The Senegalese striker rescued the Magpies in their last league match as he scored twice to earn a 2-2 draw with Hull City, but Alan Pardew has once again asked Emmanuel Riviere to lead the line.
There is no place in the Stoke lineup for Marko Arnautovic, Stephen Ireland or Bojan, with Victor Moses and Mame Biram Diouf expected to provide support for Peter Crouch from wide positions.
Hughes has also welcomed Marc Muniesa into the team after he found the net twice against Sunderland in the League Cup.
