Gus Poyet: 'Sunderland must be professional'

Sunderland manager Guy Poyet urges his team to remain professional when they face League One side Carlisle United in the FA Cup.

Gus Poyet has said that Sunderland must remain professional when they face Carlisle United in the FA Cup this weekend.

The Premier League side will be looking to avoid a giant-killing when they host the League One outfit on Sunday.

The manager told the club's website: "It's the game of the season for Carlisle so far. What an opportunity for them. I want to see my team be professional and do the right things. It's up to the players on the pitch.

"I remember one of my first games in the FA Cup with Chelsea, I saw many people taking pictures and I asked 'what is going on today?' They told me that they were looking for the one [team] who was going to be in the newspapers the next day because they lost to a lower-league side.

"I said 'I'm not going to be there, I don't want to be in that picture. I will make sure we win this game.' I think that's the mentality we want to have here. We don't want to be the negative surprise of the round."

Sunderland have won just two of their last 10 matches in all competitions.
