Sunderland defender Younes Kaboul ruled out of West Ham United clash

Sunderland boss Dick Advocaat confirms that Younes Kaboul has been ruled out of his side's match against West Ham United due to a recurrence of his knee injury.

Sunderland boss Dick Advocaat has revealed that defender Younes Kaboul will miss his side's match against West Ham United with a knee injury.

The 29-year-old signed for the Black Cats for £3m from Tottenham Hotspur in the summer after their move for Zenit St Petersburg's Nicolas Lombaerts collapsed due to the player failing a medical.

Kaboul has had an underwhelming start to his career at the Stadium of Light and will miss his third match of the season due to his knee problem.

Advocaat told reporters: "I still think that Kaboul can become a good player for this club. But if he keeps going on with his knee, then we have a problem.

"We had Lombaerts, but then we discovered he had the problem, so couldn't go for him. That's the reason we got Kaboul.

"If Kaboul can overcome his injury problems, then I still think he can come good."

Sunderland face West Ham at the Stadium of Light tomorrow.
