Sunderland manager Paolo Di Canio has admitted that Steven Fletcher could be out injured for some time.
The striker, only just back from an ankle injury, damaged his shoulder in today's 3-0 defeat by West Bromwich Albion.
"Fletcher didn't score and he got injured today," Di Canio told BBC Radio 5Live.
"His shoulder was very bad and yes [he could be out for some serious time], his shoulder went out. We lost him in a crucial moment of the game.
"He came back early from an ankle injury and he did very well the way he came back but now he'll probably have to miss a few games."
Sunderland are currently bottom of the Premier League and are the only side who are yet to win a match this season.
