Craig Gardner is a transfer target for new West Bromwich Albion manager Pepe Mel, according to a report.
The Sunderland midfielder is said to be on a list of players drawn up by the club's sporting and technical director Richard Garlick.
The Mirror reports that Gardner's family still live in the Midlands, which could be a factor in any potential move. He is also out of contract at the end of the season.
The report adds that Graham Dorrans could be sold to make room for the former Birmingham City player.
Gardner has been with Sunderland since joining from the Blues for around £6m in 2011.
