Paul Clement urges his Swansea City players to quickly move on from their thrashing at the hands of Manchester United, while also confessing that new recruits are needed.

Paul Clement has described the margin of Manchester United's 4-0 victory as "harsh" on Swansea City, but admits that his side are in desperate need of new recruits.

The Swans were humbled on home soil during Saturday's lunchtime kickoff in the Premier League, shipping three times in the final 10 minutes.

Clement is not entirely happy with his side's transfer business to date and, with £45m collected from the sale of Gylfi Sigurdsson to Everton earlier this week, the 45-year-old is now hoping to strengthen over the next 12 days.

"We want to do business in the transfer window and it is clear to see we need quality in," he told reporters. "In the end you always get what you deserve but the scoreline is harsh. One to 79 minutes was one goal. I made some changes to put offensive players on but we got in a mess defensively and at 2-0 we were vulnerable.

"You have to have belief you are still in the game but we gave the ball away and played to their strengths. They are dangerous on the counter and we were punished. I will make sure the players do not let this affect confidence too much against a team competing for the title this year.

"We have to brush ourselves down and prepare for the League Cup next week. There was a good atmosphere around the stadium and we started brightly. Generally, our shape was sound but the way it unfolded was disappointing. We'll move on quickly from this."

Swansea drew last week's opener 0-0 against Southampton at St Mary's Stadium, leaving them 14th in the Premier League table at this early stage.
