Swansea City head coach Francesco Guidolin still in hospital

Swansea City confirm that head coach Francesco Guidolin remains in hospital with a chest infection and has not yet been given a release date.

Swansea City have confirmed that head coach Francesco Guidolin is still in hospital having been admitted with a chest infection yesterday.

The 60-year-old has been suffering with the problem for more than a week now, and after failing to react fully to medical treatment he was taken to hospital before his side's Premier League match with Arsenal last night.

It remains unclear whether Guidolin will be ready to return to the dugout in time for Saturday's relegation battle against Norwich City, with Swansea confirming that a release date had not yet been set for the Italian.

"Francesco remains comfortable in hospital and is receiving excellent care and treatment. He is making good progress and is in good spirits following [Wednesday night's] result at Arsenal," read a statement from the club.

"The club is in close contact with Francesco and his consultant and his progress is being reviewed on a regular basis. No release date from hospital has been confirmed at present."

First-team coach Alan Curtis oversaw the Swans' shock 2-1 victory against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.
