Garry Monk wants Swansea City team to perfect defensive duty

Swansea City boss Garry Monk believes that his team need to stay defensively solid for this weekend's match against Manchester United at the Liberty Stadium.

Swansea City manager Garry Monk has acknowledged that keeping clean sheets is vital for his team if they want to move up the Premier League ladder.

The Welsh outfit, who have not conceded in nine games so far this season, are currently ninth in the table and will face Manchester United at the Liberty Stadium on Saturday.

"Clean sheets win you games and we've been very much a team effort this season defensively," the South Wales Evening Post quotes Monk as saying. "I've tried to put that in place, where everyone has a responsibility without the ball.

"We've had nine clean sheets and we want more. To have nine is pleasing, but that is what you need when you're faced with the quality of some of the sides in this league."

The Swans beat United at Old Trafford in their opening game of the season with a 2-1 victory.
