Michel Vorm: 'Swansea City honoured by Ronald Koeman link'

Michel Vorm admits that reports linking Dutch legend Ronald Koeman with the Swansea City hotseat is exciting and show how much the club has grown in recent years.

Michel Vorm has admitted that speculation linking Ronald Koeman with the Swansea City hotseat is exciting and shows how much the club has grown in recent years.

Koeman is leaving his current position as Feyenoord head coach at the end of the season, and Swansea claim that he has confirmed his interest in moving to Wales.

Garry Monk is acting as the caretaker boss and has been touted to take the job on a full-time basis.

While Swans goalkeeper Vorm has stressed that the player-manager should be kept on at the club in some capacity, he has admitted that the Koeman rumours have been greeted well in the dressing room, particularly with the team's Dutch contingent.

"With the Dutch boys, Jonathan de Guzman, Dwight Tiendalli and Marvin Emnes, it is a topic of conversation," he told Voetbal International "I don't know about the English and Spanish boys.

"I think that Koeman has been mentioned in the Dutch media, in particular, as a possible future coach. None of the Dutch players has previously worked with Koeman, so at Swansea it remains difficult for us to say anything about it. Though it is clear that he has done a good job at Feyenoord.

"It is a real honour for Swansea that a coach of Ronald Koeman's calibre is interested in managing the club. Something like that would have been unthinkable here a few years ago. But Garry Monk is a Swansea man, and I think it is important for someone like that to remain tied to the club."

Koeman was capped 78 times by the Netherlands in a glittering playing career in which he helped his country lift the 1988 European Championships and won European Cups with Ajax and Barcelona.
