Darren Ferguson relieved that illness-stricken fan is recovering

Peterborough United manager Darren Ferguson reveals that the fan who collapsed during his side's 2-2 draw with Swindon Town is making a recovery.

Peterborough United manager Darren Ferguson has expressed his relief at the news that the supporter who collapsed during his side's 2-2 draw with Swindon Town appears to be on the mend.

A member of the public required pitch-side CPR after falling ill during the Johnstone's Paint Trophy fixture, but Ferguson's team doctor has confirmed that he is making a recovery.

"It was surreal really, it was very tough. The most important thing that has come out of tonight is that the gentleman is going to be okay, thank goodness. He had CPR for a long, long time," Ferguson told Sky Sports News.

"I just said to the referee with two minutes to 'We'll just call it now and that'll be us', but I think he did the right thing getting us back on.

"When someone's life is at stake, football is irrelevant, and without at doubt I think everyone in that stadium is pleased that it looks like the gentleman has recovered."

Posh took a 2-0 lead during the match courtesy of a Raphael Branco own goal and a Kyle Vassell effort, but the Robins fought hack through Nile Ranger and a Shaun Brisley own goal.
