Tom Cleverley: 'We can challenge for a medal'

Tom Cleverley is confident that Team GB will emerge as genuine medal contenders at the Olympics.

Tom Cleverley has insisted that the Team GB football team have enough quality to challenge for a medal at the Olympics.

Stuart Pearce's side begin their campaign against Senegal at Old Trafford tomorrow and Cleverley is confident that his teammates will prove they are candidates for a medal.

The Manchester United midfielder said: "There is everything in this squad; youth, experience, enthusiasm, speed, technical ability and a good manager. There is no reason why we can't do well.

"It is a strong tournament but if we work hard and turn up on the day, I am sure we will be amongst the medals."

Uruguay and the United Arab Emirates are the other two nations in Team GB's group.
