London 2012 organisers say that printing Welsh midfielder Joe Allen as English in the Team GB programme was a "genuine mistake".

London 2012 organisers have been forced to apologise for wrongly printing Welsh midfielder Joe Allen as English in the Team GB programme.

The Swansea City playmaker, who could feature in Stuart Pearce's side against Senegal this evening, was given the wrong nationality, despite being one of five Welshman in the squad.

London 2012 spokesman Andy Mitchell told the BBC: "A genuine mistake was made for which we apologise."

The remaining Welshman in the squad, which include Craig Bellamy, Aaron Ramsey, Ryan Giggs and Neil Taylor were all given the correct nationality in the programme.
