Jermain Defoe was full of praise for Toronto FC supporters after making his home debut for the Major League Soccer side on Saturday.
The England international's third goal in two MLS games gave the Canadian outfit a 1-0 victory over DC United in front of 22,591 fans at BMO Field.
"It's a day I'll never forget," Defoe told reporters. "I was so much looking forward to the game at home, to see the fans and before the game you just hope you can give something back.
"It was unbelievable. From minute one the stadium was rocking and that definitely helps the team. It lifted all the players. We owed it to the fans to get a victory today and we did that."
Defoe and Toronto travel to Real Salt Lake next week. They then visit Columbus Crew, before returning to BMO Field to face the Colorado Rapids on April 12.
