New England Revolution cruise past Toronto

New England Revolution move into fourth in the Eastern Conference after beating Toronto 3-0 in MLS.

New England Revolution boosted their hopes of reaching the end of season playoffs after comfortably beating Eastern Conference rivals Toronto FC.

The visitors were ahead inside two minutes after the Canadians gave away possession to Lee Nguyen, and the forward unleashed a low shot that found the bottom corner for his 10th goal of the campaign.

On 21 minutes, he turned provider for Kelyn Rowe who doubled New England's lead as Toronto struggled to get a foothold in the game.

They tried to pull a goal back, but both Gilberto and Doneil Henry squandered chances to score.

New England put the game beyond the reach of the home side just before the hour mark, as Teal Bunbury got on the end of a fast counter-attack to slot home.

The Revolution held on to leapfrog Toronto and move into fourth in the Eastern Conference.
