Derby County's Jamie Ward signs new two-year contract

Jamie Ward becomes the seventh Derby County player to commit his future to the club after signing a new two-year contract.

Derby County forward Jamie Ward has signed a new two-year contract at the club.

Ward, who joined the club in 2011, has put pen to paper keeping him at the club until 2016.

Derby boss Steve McClaren told BBC Radio Derby: "The club finally got together with Jamie and sorted it and we are delighted.

"To be squabbling over your contract going into the season was not ideal."

The 28-year-old was a key figure in the Derby team that reached the playoff final last season and made over 40 appearances.

The Northern Ireland international is the seventh player to commit his future to the club, following in the footsteps of Jeff Hendrick, Craig Forsyth, Jake Buxton, Will Hughes, Craig Bryson and Mason Bennett.
