Half-Time Report: Gyasi Zardes cancels out Klaas-Jan Huntelaar opener

Gyasi Zardes equalises to leave the USA level at 1-1 with the Netherlands at half time in their international friendly.

The USA have headed into half time level at 1-1 with the Netherlands after coming from behind in their international friendly at the Amsterdan ArenA this evening.

It was the USA who had the first chance of the night as Michael Bradley drilled the ball towards the Netherlands' goal, but Jasper Cillesen watched it all the way to make a comfortable save.

The American side continued to look the more likely as Gyasi Zardes unleashed a powerful volley, but the Dutch keeper was ready again, while Bradley had another shot but was denied by the post.

Despite the USA's early dominance, it was the home side who opened the scoring when Memphis Depay crossed the ball towards Klaas-Jan Huntelaar, who slipped between two defenders before heading in.

The Netherlands' lead was short-lived though as Zardes got the visitors back on level terms within 10 minutes, shaking off Daryl Janmaat before tapping in from a Fabian Johnson cross.

The home side thought that they had retaken the lead just before the break when Georginio Wijnaldum smashed the ball into the roof of the net, but a foul in the build-up on Brek Shea saw the goal chalked off.
