Villarreal complete dramatic turnaround

Villarreal beat Rayo Vallecano 4-2 following a remarkable turnaround in an entertaining game at the Estadio El Madrigal.

Villarreal came from two goals down to beat Rayo Vallecano 4-2 in an entertaining game at the Estadio El Madrigal this evening.

After a subdued start from both sides Gael Kakuta headed home to put Rayo in front after connecting with Tito's good ball into the box.

Ikechukwu Uche missed a good opportunity to equalise for Villarreal before Alberto Bueno doubled the visitors' advantage with a close-range finish.

The goal seemed to galvanise Villarreal into action, however, and Javier Espinosa clawed one back for the hosts with a powerful drive from distance.

Mateo Musacchio then equalised with a thumping header before Luciano Vietto completed the turnaround by blasting an effort into the top corner.

Vietto got his second late on to make it game, set and match for the Yellow Submarine as they climbed up the La Liga table.
