Freak goal gives Colchester United victory against Walsall

A freak goal from Craig Eastmond gives Colchester United victory in their League One game against Walsall.

A freak goal from Craig Eastmond has given Colchester United victory in their League One game against Walsall this afternoon.

The opening exchanges were subdued, with both sides struggling to create chances.

Colchester's Gavin Massey had an effort at goal blocked before Walsall's Craig Westcarr fired just off target.

The play improved after the break, and Colchester broke the deadlock when James Chambers's clearance hit Craig Eastmond and flew into the net.

Walsall's Sam Mantom then drove over but Colchester held firm for the rest of the game to take all three points.
