West Brom manager Steve Clarke says that there are "places up for grabs" in his team ahead of the new Premier League season.

West Bromwich Albion manager Steve Clarke has claimed that there is still time for players to "impress" in order to get a spot in his team for the start of the Premier League season.

The Scotsman coaches his first official game in charge of the Baggies on August 18 when his former club Liverpool travel to the Hawthorns on the opening day of the new campaign.

"I wouldn't be very good at my job if I didn't have some kind of idea as to what I'm thinking about for the Liverpool game!" Clarke told the club's official website.

"But it would be wrong of me to say I know exactly what I'm going to do. Lots of things can happen between now and then. There's another two games for a start.

"All positions are open for people to impress. There are places up for grabs. Rather than get fixed on one team, I'll give everybody the chance to get on the pitch and try to persuade me they should be in the starting XI."

Meanwhile, West Brom are due to take on League One outfit Walsall in a friendly this evening.
