Zoltan Gera admits that he has a "chance" of returning to action for West Brom, despite originally being ruled out for the rest of the season with a knee injury.

West Bromwich Albion midfielder Zoltan Gera has revealed that he could make a shock return to the Baggies side, despite initially being ruled out for the rest of the season with a cruciate ligament injury.

The 32-year-old damaged his left knee in November and was expected to be unavailable for the remainder of West Brom's campaign.

Despite the initial diagnosis, Gera has admitted that there is a possibility that he may begin playing again before the close of the season, but has insisted that he will not rush his recovery.

"Fortunately everything is alright with me, there's no complication regarding my rehabilitation," Gera told Hungarian newspaper Nemzeti Sport. "It's true that I have the chance of a comeback by the end of the season but I won't rush anything.

"The last four months weren't as long [as I thought]. I will only play if the doctors show me the green light and when I feel I'm useful to the team.

"I don't feel pain in my left knee and I would be able to train more intensely. I see and feel how my knee has been improving."

The Hungary international moved to the Hawthorns from Fulham last year.
