West Bromwich Albion striker Brown Ideye has insisted that he never wanted to leave the club during the recent transfer window.
After struggling to adapt to the Premier League in the months following his club-record move to The Hawthorns, Ideye was reported to be close to joining Qatar side Al Gharafa.
However, a proposed move for West Ham United forward Carlton Cole collapsed to keep Ideye with the Baggies, and he has made an impact by scoring in his last two games.
"When I heard about the proposed move I was surprised," the Nigerian told reporters. "But I would never have left a club like West Brom to go to a club in Qatar, even for a loan. It is simply not possible.
"Now I am delighted with how things are turning out and happy about everything on the pitch.
"Two goals in two games is a dream come true for me. Every striker wants to score goals."
West Brom return to action against West Ham in the FA Cup fifth round on Saturday.
