Liverpool defender Glen Johnson has called upon the English football authorities to extend Goran Popov's suspension.
The West Bromwich Albion full-back will miss his team's next three matches after he was red-carded for spitting at Tottenham Hotspur's Kyle Walker during yesterday's match at The Hawthorns.
However, Johnson has insisted that the Macedonian should receive a heftier punishment.
"I personally think it should be more. Some people get a red card for trying to make a genuine tackle. You do something like that - it's disgusting. No man should be faced with that," he told Sky Sports News.
Popov said sorry for his actions last night via his teammate Peter Odemwingie on Twitter.
