West Ham United boss Sam Allardyce hails the performance of Andy Carroll in his side's 3-1 win over West Bromwich Albion.

West Ham United manager Sam Allardyce has hailed Andy Carroll's goalscoring performance in his side's 3-1 win over West Bromwich Albion.

The England international netted twice in the game along with Gary O'Neil to fire the Hammers six points clear of the Premier League relegation zone.

Allardyce told BBC Sport: "Andy Carroll scored the goal of the season for us, it was a fantastic goal, a world-class finish. He scored two today and it was his best performance.

"The points are more important than anything else but the performance and the fact that we won comfortably shows how good we have been at home all season. The quality of the goals show that."

West Ham are 11th in the Premier League following the win over the Baggies.
