West Ham United co-owner David Gold has said that he could have potentially become the owner of Crystal Palace before purchasing the Hammers.
Speaking to Football Direct News, Gold revealed that he once held talks with then Palace owner Simon Jordan about purchasing the club.
"When West Ham became available they too had enormous debts but it was a lifelong dream to become their owners so we of course did it," stated Gold.
"Palace was a real possibility at one time but in the end there was only one club we really wanted and here we are.
"Today we want to beat them and totally secure our premier League position."
The Hammers have been going through a revival under Sam Allardyce of late, with the manager seemingly helping the London club to secure Premier League football for another season.
