West Ham United boss Manuel Pellegrini insists that his team will improve in the coming weeks following back-to-back defeats.

West Ham United boss Manuel Pellegrini has insisted that his team will improve in the coming weeks.

The Hammers have lost to Liverpool and Bournemouth in their first two matches of the 2018-19 Premier League campaign and now face a trip to Arsenal on Saturday afternoon.

However, Pellegrini, who replaced David Moyes as head coach of West Ham ahead of the new season, has said that his side are heading in the right direction as they seek their first points of the campaign.

"In the first game, I was disappointed with the way we played, but we were playing against a top team in their own stadium," Pellegrini told reporters.

"I think we improved a lot in the second game, especially in the first 45 minutes, when we played how I want us to play. When we conceded, we had a lot of fear about losing the game. I have said before that we have to change that and I think that will improve."

West Ham's next three Premier League matches are away to Arsenal, at home to Wolverhampton Wanderers and away to Everton.
