Sam Allardyce: 'West Ham United perfect for Winston Reid'

West Ham boss Sam Allardyce believes that staying at the club would be the right choice for defender Winston Reid.

West Ham United boss Sam Allardyce has claimed that the club is a 'perfect' home for defender Winston Reid.

The 26-year-old, who is out of contract at the end of the season, is currently in negotiations over a new deal at Upton Park.

While the New Zealand international's future remains in doubt, Allardyce believes that staying at West Ham would benefit Reid's career more than moving elsewhere.

"It's probably the longest negotiations I've ever seen with a player. Whether we can get there in the end, I'm not sure. That's in the chairman's hands, not mine," he told talkSPORT.

"I just hope, with us doing so well this year, looking up, and us moving into the new stadium, is there a bigger or better club around than West Ham for Winston Reid? I'm not so sure there is, you know."

Reid joined the Hammers from Danish side Midtjylland in 2010.
