West Ham United reportedly reach an agreement with Stuttgart to sign defender Konstantinos Mavropanos, who is set to undergo his medical in the United Kingdom on Sunday.

West Ham United have reportedly reached an agreement with Stuttgart to sign defender Konstantinos Mavropanos, who is set to undergo his medical in the United Kingdom on Sunday.

The Europa Conference League winners have stepped up their interest in the 25-year-old after a proposed move for Manchester United's Harry Maguire fell through earlier this week.

West Ham had agreed a fee in excess of £30m to sign Maguire from the Red Devils, but the Englishman was unable to agree personal terms and is said to be 'settled' at Old Trafford.

David Moyes's side seem to have quickly moved on from Maguire as Sky Sports News claims that they have agreed a fee of around £19m plus add-ons with Stuttgart to sign Mavropanos.

The 19-cap Greece international is understood to have already agreed personal terms and is expected to fly to the UK on Saturday night ahead of undergoing his medical on Sunday.

Mavropanos was left out of the Stuttgart squad that thrashed VfL Bochum 5-0 on home soil in the Bundesliga on Saturday.

The 6ft 4in centre-back has spent the last three years at Stuttgart, including the first two years on loan from Arsenal before joining permanently last summer.

Mavropanos failed to establish himself as a first-team regular during his only previous spell in England with Arsenal, featuring just eight times including three Premier League starts between 2018 and 2020.

However, the Athens-born defender has been a mainstay in the Stuttgart backline in the last three seasons, making 89 appearances across all competitions including 26 Bundesliga starts in 2022-23.

Mavropanos is set to provide competition for fellow centre-backs Kurt Zouma, Nayef Aguerd, Thilo Kehrer and Angelo Ogbonna, with West Ham soon preparing to juggle domestic duties with Europa League football.

Moyes has already made two signings so far this summer, recruiting midfield duo Edson Alvarez and James Ward-Prowse from Ajax and Southampton respectively for a combined fee of around £65m.

The Hammers are looking to strengthen further, with the addition of another midfielder and attacker believed to be high on the club's radar.

West Ham have been heavily linked with a move to Ajax attacker Mohammed Kudus, but a recent report claims that they have seen an opening bid turned down by the Dutch giants.
