Western Sydney Wanders, Newcastle Jets still prop up A-League table

Western Sydney and Newcastle Jets play out a bore draw in their bottom-of-the-table A-League clash.

Western Sydney Wanderers and Newcastle Jets played out a 1-1 draw in the A-League this morning, keeping both sides in the relegation zone.

The New South Wales outfit opened the scoring to the delight of the home support with just over 10 minutes of the game gone.

A corner was swung invitingly to the far post where Tomi Juric was all alone. He had time to position himself for the volley and he slammed it inside the bottom right corner, putting the Wanderers 1-0 up.

The visitors drew level not long after when David Carney went on a mazy run down the right side of the penalty box. He made his way through traffic and dropped the ball off for Marcos Flores, who backheeled past a flat-footed Ante Covic.

Neither side could build on their first-half goal after the break, and after their round seven match both Newcastle and Western Sydney are still looking for their first win.
