Wigan Athletic manager Roberto Martinez has declared that he will continue to play the young fringe players that have helped his side reach the FA Cup quarter-finals.
Martinez continued his trend of rotating in the cup at Huddersfield Town yesterday but his squad proved up to the challenge and cruised past the Championship side by four goals to one.
The Spaniard believes that youngsters such as Callum McManaman can continue to use the cup as a platform to fight for a first-team spot at the DW Stadium.
He told The Mirror: "As a football club, we need to be brave enough to give the youngsters opportunities as long as they perform well and have the right attitude.
"If we were top four in the league, I would say that making changes was the wrong thing to do.
"But with the position we are in, and the points tally we have got, nobody's position in the league is guaranteed. Also these games are an opportunity for the younger players to stake a claim."
Wigan were picked to face either Oldham Athletic or Everton in Sunday's draw for the last eight.
