Defender Emmerson Boyce reveals his surprise at Wigan Athletic's recent run of results which has given the team a good chance of Premier League survival.

Wigan Athletic defender Emmerson Boyce has admitted that he is shocked by the club's climb out of the relegation zone.

Following Monday's victory over Arsenal, the Latics are five points ahead of 18th-placed Bolton Wanderers.

Boyce says that he is suprised by the team's recent form, which included wins over Manchester United and Liverpool.

The 32-year-old said: "To be honest, I'd have been happy if we'd still just have been in contention at this stage.

"A lot of people were quick to write us off but that gives us a point to prove. To beat those three teams has been a fantastic achievement."

Wigan have been in the Premier League since 2005.
